I have found that I have been playing my acoustic instruments lately even more than I been playing my electric guitars. I wanted an amp for my acoustics. Regular guitar amplifiers are built and designed for electic guitars. They add color and a voice to the guitar. This is exactly the opposite of what you normally want to amplify an acoustic instrument. After researching and trying out a few amps made for acoustic instruments I went for Fishman the Loudbox Artist PRO-LBX-600 Acoustic combo amp. This amp exceeded my expectations!

My criteria was size/weight, power, price and versatility. The Fishman Artist is highly regarded by gigging acoustic players for good reason. I picked the Artist model as I felt the mini lacked the options I wanted. The Loudbox Artist features two versatile channels that can each accept an instrument or mic input plus has built-in Reverb, Chorus, Flanger, Delay, Echo, and Slap Echo effects.

Playing an acoustic thru an amp is not only for gigging musicians. If you would like to add some effects or play along with yourself using a lopper pedal with an acoustic guitar this can be quite fun and worthwhile. I wanted to use my Ditto Lopper pedal and add a bit of Reverb, Delay and Chorus to my acoustic guitar playing. Also great if you sing and use a harmonizer pedal. This small amp has you covered while maintaining a clear, clean and transparent acoustic sound.

The sound is amazing with my 12 string and my electrics. Don’t let the small size and with only one 8″ speaker fool you as the fullness of the sound is quite surprising. It has lots of low end and with 120 watts it can fill a fair sized room. The feedback control does it’s job with allowing adjustment to achieve that big bottom full sound. Amp sound great and is simple to use.

Works great for guitar and vocal for solo act as it has the two channels, but also has an AUX input for adding backing tracks, etc. If you have a third acoustic player at a small gig that has a pre-amp you can connect them through the AUX input and now you have a three channel amp. The DI allows an easy interface with PA or powered speaker.

Sure makes the new Taylor T5z Custom I just bought sound awesome.
