Larrivée P-03 Parlor is a real little beauty that was hand build Feb. 6, 2012 in a natural satin finish. Don’t let the small size fool you as this little parlor sized guitar is pleasure to play and can hold its own sitting in with a couple of dreadnoughts. It stands tall against much bigger body instruments. Parlor guitars have made an astonishing comeback in the past few years as players discover that great tone and even surprising volume that can be achieved from these small bodied guitars when build by a master. Jean Larrivée has been building guitars since 1979. First in Canada and now in California. Larrivée started building their first Parlor guitars on July 6th, of 1999. Today the Larrivée Parlor has become the parlor guitar by which all others are measured according to some players.

Some players who are used to large body dreadnoughts or jumbo guitars may think a “parlor” guitar is a children’s guitar. I assure you, unless your child is a serious player, it isn’t. It is not just a travel guitar either, unless you are a touring musician looking for a great song writing companion. This 2012 model is a terrific little instrument and came with a nice factory hard case. Larrivee builds high quality instruments and this guitar is a great example.

This Larrivée P-03 Parlor has all solid wood construction with mahogany back and sides combined with a Canadian sitka spruce top and x-bracing. The neck is crafted from a single piece of mahogany. The fingerboard and bridge are high quality African ebony.

The shorter 24-inch scale gives you a bit less tension that longer scale guitars. This allows for using medium strings that will feel lighter. Larrivée recommends D’Addario EXP17 13-56’s for this guitar. Great guitar for fingerpickers. Sounds pretty nice strummed as well.
