My last bass amp was a back breaker and was too large a footprint to fit into my home studio. I remember trying to find a box to ship it in when I sold it which was not easy. Sure it sounded good, but try moving it.
I am primarily a guitar player, but do play a bit of bass now and then. Size and weight was a big factor for my need for a new bass amp. I was not wanting to give up on tone and wanted an amp that could do a small gig if needed. Although, the amp would be sitting in my home studio 99.9% of the time.
T.C. Electronics BG250 series is available in several speaker options. They offer this same basic amp in a 1-12 inch, 1-15 inch, 2-8 inches and 2-10 inches. The speaker options affect the size and weight slightly. I choose the T.C. Electronics BG250 with the single 12 inch speaker. This amps weighs under 36-lbs and has only 18″ x 14.8″ x 21.3″ dimensions. The tone print options allows for some built-in effects. Also like the headphone out so the world does not have to hear my bad bass playing when I am trying to learn something!
