Eastwood Guitars Mandocaster 12 is a hi-tuned 12-string “octave” electric guitar. I thought I would give one of these a try. Looking like a Telecaster attracted me. I was interested in this instrument ever since I heard Buddy Miller playing the Phantom Mando 12-string guitar (see video below).

The Mandocaster 12 is an “Octave Guitar”. Essentially a 12-string electric guitar that’s tuned E to E, but an octave higher than a traditional electric. Like putting a capo at the 12th-fret of a standard scale 12-string guitar. That’s the sound we are talking about here, but with a longer, more manageable scale length for better playability and 12 individually adjustable saddles for better intonation.

The Mandocaster 12 is a perfect addition to any studio and a great songwriting companion, filled with inspiration. Finally, a “mandolin” style instrument that guitarist can enjoy without having to relearn the chord shapes. Recommended string gauges are .008”/.008” – .010”/.010” – .013”/.013” – .012”/.022” – .014”/.032” – .022”/.042”
