Tech 21 SansAmp Character Series Blonde (v2)

Tech 21 Blonde V2 is a Sansamp that is part of the Tech 21 Character Series. Many players use these direct into a PA or console/PC for recording. These SansAmp style effects have been around a long time and some players depend on them as their ONLY amp. Tech 21 added a switch on V2 to allow you to turn off the speaker emulator section for using into the front-end or return loop of a guitar amp. This can work depending on the amp you have and the preamp settings.

I liked my Liverpool model so much I bought this Blonde version for some different tones.

Each pedal in Tech 21’s Character range is designed to emulate the classic sounds of a particular brand of amp. These are not digital modeling pedals, but analog circuits based on the classic SansAmp technology. My Liverpool does some convincing Vox sounds from clean and chimey to Singing AC30 Brian May tones with so Tom Petty in the middle.

The Blonde does Fender tones, from Champ Amp to Bassman with other models as well. Blonde has a Character control that takes you through several models. There’s a mono input and output, and the pedal can be powered by either a single 9V battery (which should last around 100 hours) or a standard 9 volt adaptor.

You need to spend so time with these pedals to get the hang what they can achieve. They can be used into the return input (bypassing the preamp) of a tube amp, direct to PA or as a recording amp into a PC interface. You can also use them into a headphone amp or device for silent practice.

Placing an overdrive or compressor in front of these Character series pedals makes it come alive. Last device on my pedalboard is a nice use as no amp is needed to get great tones.

My only complaint is they should add an XLR so it can be used without a direct box.

From Tech 21 website:
Does a two-faced blonde sound like trouble? We hope so, when those faces are silver and black and this Blonde rocks pure American tone to the stratosphere. Sparkly, spanky cleans that overdrive with a satisfying low-end rumble become the punchy bark of hard-pushed tweed, maxing out in a fat sizzle of lead boosted tone. Take the reins and don’t spare the emulated Jensens®, this Blonde is a wild ride through American rock history.
